In Firefox 3.5, an update.locale file was added that tracks the locale used for updating. The file is located is at 'resource:///update.locale'. The values stored in the file are of the form: xx-XX. By hooking the appropriate window properties, this file can successfully be sourced as script and the locale can be determined.
